Storage Mishap by Jole1038
Another really nice unbirth story by Jole1038 on DeviantArt, but this time it's more about slime unbirth. The story follows a female lab worker studying some specific creatures, which need a really wet and warm environment to survive. When an earthquake hits the lab, the containers for the creatures are damaged, and our main character doesn't want to lose any of them. So she comes up with an unusual solution and after the first creature is safe, the others quickly follow…
Working is hard, like not too hard but not always fun. That’s what my friends think. Because at my job I’m making a new life. Recently on a trip to the moon, we found some samples. And after some lab work, there’s life. And now we have living creatures. They started off slimy but eventually, they started to develop skin bones and recognisable features. However, getting to that stage took weeks. We, however, had plenty of time and funding. Being that while in this stage they were still moving and responsive. And now that we have one of two in the later stages funding is seemingly endless. Also, it helps that the government is running the show. We joke that we work at Area 51 but it’s just in a deep basement in the city. When we swipe our cards on one of the elevators outback it goes straight down. There are a few buildings that have this and you can drive down here but it’s a long drive in a tunnel.
Now, these creatures are very fascinating. They have to be in specific conditions to be able to grow, the conditions are moist and warm but not too humid. Many creatures are being grown and we have tested splicing DNA from earth’s animals and plants with the moon DNA and some have been successful. But not many have been successful which is unfortunate. We have currently stopped making new specimens and were at capacity so all other DNA is on the freeze. We must be growing 50 or so creatures. And it’s all happening right below everyone’s feet. Well, about 6-7 stories below. The creatures were all in different stages of development. Some were at points that they didn’t need containment but we wouldn’t be letting them roam free. And others were near the beginning of life. There weren’t many in between but there were a couple.
During that time we were trying to mix DNA, but it wasn’t working too well. So we just went back to basics and thought that once the bread naturally we could try again. As to start the DNA was a bit broken but we fixed it and got life thankfully. I was tasked with looking after room 12B this had 10 of the newer life forms. They were at the stage of two closed fists. Of which in two to three weeks would be the size of a person’s head. Then three or so more as big as a dog. Describing the look of the creatures is hard but at this stage, it is still slimy but starts to have eyes and a sort of mouth. We have found they can make parts of themselves harder and softer to the conditions...
