It was meant to be the proudest day of her life so far – and Claudia was proud. After many years of hard study of thousands of words of research written into her widely-praised seminal thesis, she was finally graduating with a doctorate. Yet, when she was handed the certificate that represented her degree and all the work that she had put into it, she knew that something was missing. It wasn’t that this wasn’t enough, it was that this wasn’t what she truly needed for personal fulfilment. As the graduation ceremony’s speakers droned on, her mind drifted to what her partner Aaron had promised awaited her when she got home.

After the seemingly never-ending ceremony had eventually drawn to a close and Claudia had escaped from the innumerable congratulations and the obligatory thank-yous, it was a substantial relief for her to at long last make it home. She removed the gown and cap that signified her newly conferred degree and stripped out of the elegant dress she had worn for the ceremony. This was followed by a shower until she was thoroughly cleaned from head to toe. She was now ready.

The preparations for this moment had been in train for many months as it had become clear that this is what Claudia both wanted and needed. The most visible of these was the results of the multi-stage process to eliminate and exterminate every last hair from her body, whether they were the leg hairs she had never liked, the hairs on the top of her head she had replaced with a wig, or even her eyebrows, whose absence had been hidden with a fake pair. Now the wig and fake eyebrows had been removed, her absolute hairlessness lay exposed...
